Upholstery is what we specialise in, but we clean carpet across Long Island too — and it makes obvious sense to do both in one visit, since the travel is already covered. Same organic, pet-safe solutions, same honest approach to pricing.
Carpet pricing
Carpet is priced by room rather than by piece, because rooms vary far more than sofas do. Send the room count and rough dimensions through the form above and we'll give you a firm number before we book — not an estimate that changes on arrival.
What we can tell you now is what's included, and it's everything: pre-vacuum, pre-spray with proper dwell time, agitation, hot-water extraction, spot treatment of ordinary marks, and grooming. There's no "deep clean" upgrade and no separate charge for pre-treatment, because pre-treatment isn't optional — it's how carpet actually gets clean.
The $99 minimum per visit applies to carpet the same as everything else, and the 10% online discount applies too.
The classic Long Island bait. "$79 for three rooms" gets a van on your driveway. Then pre-treatment is extra, spot removal is extra, deodorizer is extra, speed drying is extra, and the hallway and stairs count as rooms. If you have been through that, you know exactly why we quote a real number first.
How carpet differs from upholstery
Carpet is built to be walked on, which means it tolerates more aggressive treatment than furniture ever could — higher pressure, more moisture, a powered wand rather than a hand tool. Most carpet is nylon or polyester in a known construction, so there's far less guesswork than with upholstery fabric.
Wool carpet is the exception and it needs the same caution as wool upholstery: neutral-to-slightly-acidic chemistry at moderate temperature, because heat plus alkalinity causes felting and shrinkage. Long Island has a lot of wool broadloom in older North Shore homes, and it's regularly cleaned wrong.
The other real difference is drying. Carpet holds far more water than furniture, and a carpet left over-wet is how you get delamination, wick-back staining and a musty smell in the pad that lasts months. We run heavy extraction passes and air movement rather than pushing more solution in.
What we treat
- Traffic lanes — the darkened paths between doorways, which are abrasive soil ground into fiber rather than surface dirt.
- Pet accidents — same enzyme process as our upholstery pet treatment, $50. Urine in carpet reaches the pad and often the subfloor, and we'll be straight with you about what's recoverable.
- Filtration soiling — the grey lines along baseboards and under doors, caused by air being drawn through carpet edges. Improvable, rarely fully removable.
- Spills and tannin stains — wine, coffee, juice. Best results when they haven't been scrubbed.
- Basement carpet — extremely common here, and the humidity is what turns ordinary soil into a persistent smell in the pad.
Stairs, area rugs and combination jobs
Stairs are labour-intensive and priced separately from rooms — we'll tell you the number when we quote rather than surprising you with it. Area rugs are their own service with their own considerations.
Most of our carpet work is booked alongside furniture, which is the sensible way to do it. A living room carpet plus the sofa and ottoman that sit on it, cleaned in one appointment, costs less than two separate visits and gives a far more even result — because cleaning the carpet under a dirty sofa just makes the sofa look worse.
Organic on carpet too
Same policy as upholstery: plant-derived, non-toxic, no optical brighteners. Carpet matters here for a specific reason — it's the surface crawling babies and pets spend the most time in direct contact with, and it's where residue does the most harm.
Residue is the real problem with cheap carpet cleaning. Detergent left in the fiber stays sticky, attracts soil immediately, and the carpet is visibly dirtier a month later than before it was cleaned. That's the origin of the myth that cleaning carpet makes it get dirty faster. It isn't the cleaning — it's the rinse that never happened.
How often carpet needs doing
Every 12 to 18 months for most households, and every 6 to 12 months with pets, small children or heavy traffic. Manufacturers of nylon carpet typically require professional hot-water extraction at least every 18 months to keep a warranty valid, and a surprising number of people void theirs without realising it.
The more useful measure is traffic lanes. Once you can see a defined darker path between two doorways, soil has already been ground into the fiber and is abrading it every time someone walks through. Carpet does not wear out from footsteps — it wears out from grit under footsteps. Cleaning at that point protects the carpet, not just its appearance.
Basements, and the Long Island humidity problem
Finished basements are everywhere here and they are the hardest carpet we clean. Below grade means cooler surfaces, less airflow and higher relative humidity, and that combination keeps the pad damp enough that ordinary soil turns into a persistent musty smell.
Two things matter with basement carpet. Drying must be aggressive — we run more air movement and fewer wet passes than we would upstairs, because a basement carpet that stays damp for two days is worse off than it was before. And if there has been any past flooding or seepage, tell us. Water damage in a pad is a different problem from soiling, and cleaning the carpet face will not resolve a contaminated pad underneath.

Questions Long Island homeowners ask
Do you clean carpet as well as upholstery?
Yes. Upholstery is our specialty and where most of our work is, but we clean carpet across both counties too. Booking both in one visit costs less than two separate appointments and gives a more even result — cleaning the carpet under a dirty sofa just makes the sofa look worse.
How much does carpet cleaning cost?
Carpet is priced by room rather than by piece, because rooms vary far more than sofas do. Send the room count and rough dimensions through the booking form and we will give you a firm number before we book — not an estimate that changes on arrival. The $99 minimum and the 10% online discount both apply.
Is pre-treatment included or extra?
Included. So are pre-vacuum, dwell time, agitation, extraction, spot treatment of ordinary marks and grooming. There is no deep-clean upgrade, because pre-treatment is not optional — it is how carpet actually gets clean.
Why did my carpet get dirty faster after it was cleaned?
Detergent residue. Cheap cleaning leaves soap in the fiber, which stays sticky and attracts soil immediately, so the carpet looks worse a month later than before. That is the origin of the myth that cleaning makes carpet soil faster. It is not the cleaning, it is the rinse that never happened.
Can you remove the grey lines along my baseboards?
Those are filtration soiling — air being drawn through the carpet edge deposits fine particulate over years. It is usually improvable but rarely fully removable, and we will tell you honestly what to expect before we start rather than after.
Can you clean wool carpet?
Yes, with the right chemistry. Wool needs neutral-to-slightly-acidic products at moderate temperature, because heat combined with alkalinity causes felting and shrinkage. There is a lot of wool broadloom in older North Shore homes and it is regularly cleaned wrong.
