Hewlett households entertain, and at scale. Large dining sets in genuine weekly use rather than holiday-only, full tables, and a calendar that puts real pressure on furniture several times a year. That single fact shapes most of the work we do across the Five Towns.
Dining sets in weekly use
In most of Long Island an upholstered dining set gets used three or four times a year. In Hewlett it's different — Shabbat and Yom Tov mean chairs in regular use, often with a full table and often with children.
That produces a particular pattern: food and drink at close range week after week, plus more body oil per square inch than nearly anything in the house, because contact concentrates on a small seat with full body weight behind it. On the cream and light linen seats that dominate here it shows as a faint darkened ring at the centre of the cushion. On darker fabric it doesn't show at all — it simply goes slightly tacky and holds every crumb.
Ten and twelve-seat sets are normal here. At $20 a chair that's $200 to $240 for the whole set, which is the best-value work on our list, and the $99 minimum clears at five chairs.

Timing around the calendar
Book two to three weeks before you need them, not the week of. The run-up to Rosh Hashanah and again to Pesach is genuinely our busiest period across the Five Towns and the late slots go early.
It's also worth booking afterwards. Cleaning before a holiday makes the room look right; cleaning after removes what actually landed on the chairs. If you can only do one, do the one after — spills left for months are considerably harder to lift than spills handled within a few weeks. Chairs are also the easiest thing to fit in at short notice, drying in one to two hours.
Near the bay
Toward the southern end of Hewlett and out along the water, homes carry the salt-air load common to the whole South Shore. Salt draws moisture from the atmosphere and holds it in fabric, so upholstery stays slightly damp, odor develops faster and natural fibers stiffen over time. Furniture in those houses does better on a 9 to 12 month cycle.
The whole upstairs in one visit
Every mattress is $99 regardless of size and headboards are $99 too. In a house with four or five bedrooms it makes sense to do the lot at once, since the travel is already covered. The headboard is the one worth arguing for — it sits inches from your face for eight hours a night collecting hair product and skin oil, and in most homes it has never been cleaned once.
Outdoor and patio furniture
Outdoor cushions take punishment no indoor sofa sees. Sunscreen is the damaging one — oils and titanium dioxide bond into the fibers, oxidise and yellow, and a cushion left under a cover all winter often never fully recovers. Add salt in the air, spring pollen and tree sap, and outdoor fabric accumulates far more than people expect.
We clean patio sectionals, deep-seat sofas, chair pads, sun loungers and poolside furniture in place, with controlled extraction rather than a pressure washer — pressure washing breaks the fiber surface, strips the factory water-repellent finish and drives water into the foam. Prices are identical to indoor. Best booked September or October. More on outdoor furniture cleaning →
What the work actually looks like
Real jobs photographed on Long Island — not stock images. This is the hand tool, the technique and the standard of finish you get in Hewlett.
How we work, on every piece
We read the manufacturer's cleaning code first — W, S, WS and X each demand a different method, and guessing is how furniture gets ruined. Dry soil comes out with a crevice tool through every seam, because adding moisture to dry grit makes mud. Then organic pre-conditioner with real dwell time, gentle agitation with a soft horsehair brush, and hot-water extraction with an upholstery hand tool rather than a carpet wand.
Fabric changes the method but never the price. Velvet, bouclé, microfiber, leather, linen and wool are all priced by the piece — see our fabric guide.

Questions Long Island homeowners ask
How much to clean a twelve-seat dining set in Hewlett?
$240, at $20 per chair covering seats and backs in any fabric. A ten-seat set is $200. The $99 minimum clears at five chairs, so a full set always pays the per-chair rate, and online quotes take a further 10% off.
When should I book before a holiday?
Two to three weeks ahead. The run-up to Rosh Hashanah and Pesach is our busiest period across the Five Towns. It is also worth booking afterwards — that is when the actual spills happen, and spills left for months are much harder to lift.
How quickly do dining chairs dry?
One to two hours, faster than any other upholstery, because seat cushions are thin and open to air on both sides. That is why chairs are the easiest job to fit in at short notice.
Are your products safe for children?
Yes. Everything we use is plant-derived and non-toxic, with no harsh detergents, no chemical smell and nothing that needs to air out. The room is usable as soon as the fabric is dry.
Does being near the bay affect my furniture?
Yes. Salt holds moisture in fabric, so upholstery stays slightly damp, odor develops faster and natural fibers stiffen. Homes toward the water do better on a 9 to 12 month cycle than the usual 12 to 18.
Is it worth cleaning headboards as well as mattresses?
Very much. A headboard sits inches from your face for eight hours a night collecting hair product and skin oil, and in most homes it has never been cleaned since the bed was delivered. Both are $99, so the pair is $198.
